We at the FWA were delighted to honour the recipients of our Student Football Writing awards during the Footballer of the Year dinner on May 22.
Carly Lyes collected the Vikki Orvice award, Dylan Mclaren won the Hugh McIlvanney award and Keane Handley took the Unheard Voices award sponsored by Kick It Out.
Shortly after Mohamed Salah received the Footballer of the Year trophy, and Alessia Russo won our award as Women’s Footballer of the Year, the three student writing award winners were presented with their trophies by Ian Ridley, Caroline North McIlvanney and Sam Okafor, from Kick It Out.
Our congratulations to Carly, Dylan and Keane, who also receive prizes of £1000 each and membership of the FWA mentorship scheme. They will also have the chance to view matches from Wembley’s press box.
