Northern Managers Awards dinner – Nov 5

Pep Guardiola, Erik ten Hag and seven other trophy-winners to be honoured in Manchester

ONE of the most-successful seasons in the history of northern football will be showcased in Manchester on Sunday, November 5.

The 42nd FWA (North) Managers’ Awards Dinner, as usual to be held at The Edwardian, a Radisson Collection Hotel on the site of Manchester’s iconic Free Trade Hall, will feature nine award-winning bosses – headed by Pep Guardiola.

The Manchester City manager led his side to a Champions League, Premier League and FA Cup treble in a season which also saw neighbours United – under Erik ten Hag – win the Carabao Cup.

In a campaign which underlined that football is a northern powerhouse, Burnley’s Vincent Kompany and Sheffield United’s Paul Heckingbottom led their clubs to promotion to the Premier League.

The success story didn’t end there, either. Darren Moore – now at Huddersfield – was a promotion winner at Sheffield Wednesday, as were Paul Simpson at Carlisle and Phil Parkinson at Wrexham, the club with Hollywood glitz through their owners – actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.

Completing the list of managerial winners are Bolton’s Ian Evatt, for the Papa Johns EFL Trophy and Chris Millington, for the FA Trophy with FC Halifax Town.

Tickets for the event, including a four-course dinner, are available from northern FWA secretary Paul Hetherington, and cost £75 for FWA members and £80 for non-members and guests.
