PEP GUARDIOLA was the big winner at the 2021 FWA Northern Managers Awards night, held in Manchester on Sunday Feb 6th.

The Manchester City manager was honoured for leading his side to the Premier League title in 2021. And although he was unable to attend the event, at Manchester’s Radisson Edwardian Hotel, because of the club’s Covid restrictions, he sent a pre-recorded video message, thanking the FWA for his award, apologising for his absence and promising to attend next year’s dinner in person, joking that he will have won another “251 titles”.

Other managers from successful northern clubs, who were honoured on the night, included: GRANT McCANN (Hull City), NEIL CRITCHLEY (Blackpool), LEE JOHNSON (Sunderland), IAN EVATT (Bolton Wanderers), DEREK ADAMS (Morecambe) now Bradford City. DAVE CHALLINOR (Hartlepool United, now Stockport County) , DAVID McNABB (Warrington Rylands).

The event was supported by our generous title sponsors William Hill.
