Press conference restrictions to be lifted

A return to in-person pre-match press conferences will be allowed from next week

The FWA is pleased to announce that our members can begin a return to normal working conditions after the Premier League said clubs can relax restrictions over pre-match press conferences from next week.

Restrictions returned at the end of 2021 with the arrival of the Omicron variant, but now the Premier League have agreed that clubs can hold pre-match press conferences in person once again wherever feasible. Virtual access will still be possible for those journalists who cannot attend, but we would encourage our members to make the most of this long-awaited return to reality.

In-person interviews can also take place at training grounds as long as reporters can show proof of a negative lateral flow test result. Social distancing must be maintained.

Post-match access will still be online for the time being, but we are hopeful of a return to in-person press conferences after games in the near future. We thank our members for their co-operation in following the guidelines, and the media teams at the Premier League and its clubs for their assistance in what has been a challenging period.
