11 Managers recognised at annual awards in Manchester on Sunday November 6th.
THE Northern Branch of the FWA honoured 11 managers at The Edwardian Hotel in Manchester on Sunday night.
Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola and Liverpool’s Jurgen Klopp sent thank-you videos after being unable to attend the 41st Northern Managers’ Awards Dinner.
Klopp had to miss the event due to Liverpool’s match at Tottenham and Derby’s Paul Warne was also unable to be present, as he was on FA Cup duty at Torquay.
Warne was honoured for winning promotion from League One with Rotherham United last season.
But seven award-winning managers were present, with Grimsby’s Paul Hurst the only other boss who was unavailable.
In the room were Stoke’s Alex Neil, for winning promotion to the Championship with Sunderland and Wigan Athletic’s Leam Richardson.
They were joined by Port Vale’s Darrell Clarke, Stockport’s Dave Challinor and Travis Binnion, who led Manchester United to glory in the FA Youth Cup.
Women’s football was represented by Manchester City’s Gareth Taylor and Liverpool’s Matt Beard.
Richardson, Neil, Clarke, Binnion and Beard were winners at the function for the first time.
Eleven recipients represented another highly-successful season in the north, highlighted by Guardiola’s Premier League title triumph.
The popular Manchester event was supported by the Football Writers’ Association’s family of sponsors.
The FWA are grateful to our family of sponsors William Hill, FedEx, Football Manager, Sky Sports and dataP0WA for their backing.
