Arsenal and Netherlands legend to be honoured at the Landmark, London on Jan 19.
We are delighted and honoured to confirm that Dennis Bergkamp has agreed to be the recipient of the FWA’s Tribute Night on Sunday January 19 at The Landmark Hotel, London.
Next year is the 30th anniversary of Dennis’s arrival in the Premier League with Arsenal and after making such an astonishing impact on the English game, there is no more befitting recipient of our annual award.
Having started his career in his native Amsterdam with Ajax, Bergkamp had an ill-fated spell at Inter before joining Arsenal in 1995. He went on to become one of the most influential players in the club’s rise to prominence over the next two decades, and was voted our Footballer of the Year in 1998, having helped Arsene Wenger’s side win the League and FA Cup double.
He is regarded as one of the greatest players of the Premier League era, and we are pleased to be able to recognise his contribution to English football.
